Celebrate Fall in Ridgeview Ranch!

October 23, 2013

Crisp apples, leaves changing colors, cooler temperatures and holidays like Halloween & Thanksgiving. The Fall season is full of fantastic reasons to celebrate!  Why not join friends and neighbors for a bit of fun right here in the neighborhood?

treeRidgeview Ranch will be hosting a Fall Celebration for residents Saturday, November 2nd from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Bellerive Dr. amenity center and tennis court.  Challenge yourself on the Incredible Hulk obstacle course, jump till you drop in one of two bouncy houses, and satisfy your sweet tooth with cupcakes and cotton candy!  AND – we have another excuse for wearing that Halloween costume with our Costume Parade!  Plus a few more surprise activities.

We still need volunteers. So, if you are already planning to attend, donate 1 hour of your time to help with a bounce house, run a game or activity or hand out snacks and spend the last hour enjoying time with your family at the event.  You’ll help out the neighborhood while also allowing other volunteers to spend time with their family at the event!  If you want to volunteer, contact social event chair Bridget Todd at bridgettodd@sbcglobal.net ASAP!

Bring your gently used coats and jackets to the event to help us with our One Warm Coat Drive.  Our goal is to provide a coat for 100 people this season!  A very special thank you to event sponsors who provided activities, food and drinks for the event.  Verizon FiOS, Kroger, Team Baglietto, Custer McDermott Animal Hospital, and more.

Everyone Could Use “One Warm Coat”

October 2, 2013

Now that Fall has arrived and the temperatures are cooling ever so slightly, we enter the “Holiday Season.”  Even though this is my favorite time of year, I am reminded that this is also one of the toughest times of the year for families in need.  Families who struggle to provide even their most basic needs often worry where they will find the money to provide special gifts for this time of year.

OWC_smallWell, this is where you and I can help.  One of our homeowners, Liz Aviles with VIP Realty, is coordinating and sponsoring the “One Warm Coat” drive here in Ridgeview Ranch.  According to the organizations website, there mission is a simple one, “to provide any person with a warm coat, free of charge.  Providing this simple, yet vital need, helps people live productive lives year round.”  Find out more about the organization at www.onewarmcoat.org.

Participation in the drive is easy, we will be collecting clean, new or gently used coats, jackets, even sweaters for both adults and children from the first of October through the end of November.  Collection boxes will be set up in the fitness center (2401 Bellerieve Dr.) and at her home (2724 Faxon Dr.) for you to drop off your donations through November 31.  You can also contact Liz directly via email at SOLD.VIP@gmail.com, or by phone at (855) SOLD-VIP to arrange for a pick-up at your home.

All donated items (coats, jackets and sweaters only please) will be given to the the Power of Grace Minisrty and Reconciliation Outreach Dallas for distribution to local people in need.  Our goal is to collect coats for at least 100 adults and 100 children here in the Dallas area.

We are kicking off the program at the Fall Golf Tournament this Saturday, October 5 at the Ridgeview Ranch Golf Club.  Just bring your clean, gently used coats and jackets to the clubhouse and at the end of the scramble around 6pm to enjoy the presentations and everyone who donates a coat or jacket will be entered into a drawing for a Zorba’s Greek Restaurant gift card provided by Ms. Aviles.

“More people than ever need help these days. I am proud of the thousands of coat drive organizers whose creativity and generosity of spirit have made helping people so easy and who are making a real difference in their own communities.” commented Sherri Wood, President and National Coordinator for One Warm Coat.

One Warm Coat is national non-profit organization that supports and encourages coat drives. It helps individuals, groups, companies and organizations across the country collect coats and deliver them to local agencies that distribute the coats free to people in need. More than one million coats have been provided to those in need at no cost since its inception in 1992.  A great big thank you goes out to Liz Avilez for spearheading our participation in this program!
