Community Garage Sale

September 30, 2014

Clean out those closets, cabinets and garages and make a little cash!  It all happens this weekend, Saturday, October 4 from 8am to 2pm.  Just follow these steps to participate:

1.  Each home must register with the City of Plano.  Go to http://egov.plano.gov/garagesales/ and print out your permit – just in case.
2. Pick up signs and balloons at the Bellerive Fitness Center/Pool Clubhouse Friday October 3rd anytime after 1pm.  Please take 1 balloon and 2 to 3 signs.  And don’t forget your card key to get into the clubhouse!
3. The garage sale is Saturday from 8am to 2pm.  The sale will be advertised on Craigslist and signs will be placed at our entrances at least a week before the sale begins.  Please be advised that signs must be placed on private property or they will be taken by the city.
4. Each participant is encouraged to tell friends, family, co-workers about the sale and are encouraged to talk about it on their social media sites like facebook, twitter and instagram.  You are also encouraged to take out your own garage sale ad on Craigslist including the specific items you have for sale to help make the event a greater success.  The more media we have out there promoting the event the better.
5. The Manor – The Management Company will be sure that a temporary gate code is assigned for the weekend of the sale and is posted on the call boxes at each gate entrance.
6. Donations – After the sale, call your favorite charity for a special pick-up of your unsold items.  There was a great dea of difficulty associated with providing a donation truck for your unsold items after the sale.  Many charities will no longer pick up garage sale items and without volunteers to load, supervise and pass out donation receipts for an on-site truck, it became impossible to continue to provide this service.

Thanks and HAVE A SUCCESSFUL SALE!

September Yard of the Month Winners

September 15, 2014

I would like to begin with saying “Congratulations” to this years Yard of the Month winners.  You have made my task of selecting Yard of the Month winners much easier.   While not everyone can be awarded Yard of the Month, I do want to comment on what I look for when making my selections.   Perfection is not expected, but these are the primary elements I look for or notice:

  • Grass that is thick, edged within last few weeks, and mostly weed free
  • Shrubs that have been trimmed within last few weeks
  • Flower beds that are mostly weed free
  • At least one decent sized tree that has been pruned in last month or so
  • Some interesting design elements and/or balance
  • At least some small splash of color
  • Consistency and continual improvement from previous months

In my judging process, I do avoid repeat Yard of the Month winners from the previous year, so if you have a beautiful yard and got an award last year, please keep up the hard work and assume you’ll be noticed next year.  For those of you that have been working hard  to improve your yard but were not selected, keep up the hard work as often just one or two minor things make a difference.  So go ahead and replace that dead shrub, prune that tree, sprinkle some fertilizer/weed control on the grass, plant a new tree, add a decorative border around your flower beds, or put a flower pot with a few colorful plants by the door.  That might be all that’s needed to be selected.  I have really enjoyed seeing the results of the hard work being done.  Thanks for making your yards and our neighborhood beautiful.

Below are my selections for the September Yards of the Month and with these selections we conclude our 2014 Yard of the Month program sponsored by Calloway’s Nursery.   Winners receive a $25 Calloway’s gift card.

Up next are the Halloween and Holiday decorating contests.  Judging dates/times will be posted a few weeks in advance.   I would like to request assistance with the judging for these decorating contests along with Yard of the Month for 2015.  If you are interested, please contact me.

Ridgeview Ranch Residents,

Our management company, CCMC, recently moved their offices from their old address on Plano Parkway to their new office on Dallas Parkway. As a result of the move, the phone system is not receiving incoming calls to their direct lines. As they work to resolve the issue, you can reach our community manager Marlon Kelly via email at mkelly@ccmcnet.com or by calling the CCMC Customer Service number at 888-257-1388. They will transfer you to Marlon’s direct line.

CCMC’s new address is 7800 Dallas Parkway #450, Plano TX 75024

We appreciate your patience as they work to resolve this issue quickly.

Sincerely,
Your Ridgeview Ranch HOA Board of Directors
